Introduction to Astronomy [Basics for beginners]

Our solar system is the region of space that falls under the influence of the Sun's gravity.
It extends two light-years into space and contains planets, comets, moons and asteroids.

The sky is everything that lies above the surface of earth, including the atmosphere and outer space.

The night sky is the most beautiful sights in nature.

The study of everything in the universe beyond earth's atmosphere is known as ASTRONOMY.

ASTRONOMY is divided into two main areas :
Observational astronomy
Theoretical  astronomy
Observational astronomy:

Collecting data from satellites and spacecraft using radio and optical telescopes.
Developing new intrumentation and maintaining existing equipments.
Analyzing data and testing theories.
 Theoretical  astronomy:

Creating complex computer models to develop theories on the physical processes happening in space.
Analyzing the results of past observations to develop new predictions making observations and testing theories.
Analyzing data to help develop our understanding of events in the universe.

[Funfact:: There are four gaint gas planets which have rings around them; Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune.]
